On the 19th, when Lee appeared on KBS Radio's 'Joo Jin-woo Live' and was asked about his opinion on Han's confirmation, he replied, "The appointing authority lies not with the Democratic Party but with the president elected by the people. Considering that this is a newly starting administration, there is also a need to have expectations that they will do well."
The Democratic Party had previously judged Han as unqualified due to issues such as the 'Kim & Chang high consulting fee controversy.' Ahead of the vote on Han's appointment consent bill scheduled for the afternoon of the 20th, the party plans to finalize its official stance at a party meeting. Lee said, "Opinions are divided within the party and among supporters. The decision will be made well within the National Assembly."
When asked about his thoughts on the personnel of the Yoon Seok-youl administration, he took a reserved stance, saying, "The people will give appropriate responsibility or praise. As a competitor, I will withhold judgment for now and observe."
While expressing hope for the success of the new government, Lee emphasized, "There are many things that can be done even if I am not the president. I made many promises during this presidential election, and I will protect a significant part of them by strengthening the roles of the National Assembly and the Democratic Party." Regarding his taking the lead in the June 1 local elections, he expressed his ambition, saying, "Politics is about taking responsibility. To take responsibility, I will face risks head-on and do everything I can."
