Sergeant Jo Min-jae Quickly Responds at Traffic Accident Scene to Rescue Lives

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Sergeant Major Jo Min-jae of the 31st Infantry Division (Chungjang Unit), Macheonmok Battalion, Army, has recently been recognized for rescuing local residents at the scene of a traffic accident, inspiring warm emotions.
On the 6th, while transporting supplies needed for the training ground and returning to the unit, Sergeant Major Jo witnessed a vehicle turning a curve in the Gangjin-eup area of Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, collide with a guardrail with a loud crash.
He immediately ran to the accident scene and first checked the condition of the victims.
At the time of the accident, the vehicle’s front bumper was completely destroyed and the airbag had deployed. The driver had a head injury with bleeding due to the impact, and the passenger complained of pain in the shin.
Sergeant Major Jo first evacuated the victims to a safe place and called 119 for rescue. Until the rescue team arrived, he applied emergency treatment by stopping the bleeding on the driver’s head.
Later, rescue workers and police arrived at the scene, and Sergeant Major Jo explained the accident situation and the condition of the injured before handing over the situation.
Sergeant Major Jo said, “As soon as I witnessed the accident, I thought I had to go to the scene and save the people.” He added, “I am relieved that the victims were not seriously injured.” He also pledged, “As a member of the Macheonmok Battalion protecting Gangjin and Jangheung, I will do my best to protect the lives and property of the people.”
