According to the Busan Saha Police Station on the 19th, Ms. A was sent to prosecution in custody on charges of drunk driving and violation of laws including aggravated punishment for specific crimes.
Ms. A caused an accident around 3 a.m. on the 15th while driving toward Myeongji at the entrance of Eulsukdo Bridge in Sinpyeong-dong, Saha-gu, Busan.
At the time of the accident, the vehicle crashed into a structure, overturned due to the impact, and caught fire.
The vehicle had three people in their 20s, including Ms. A, all intoxicated, and Mr. B, a man in his 20s who was in the front passenger seat, died.
The driver Ms. A and Ms. C, a woman in her 20s who was seated in the back seat, were seriously injured and rescued with the help of a passing citizen.
A police official said, “The seatbelt was not unfastened, but fortunately, there were scissors in the witness’s car, which allowed us to barely rescue the driver.”
Subsequently, a passing police patrol car also attempted to extinguish the fire, but due to the severity of the flames, they could not rescue Mr. B, the front passenger.
Police investigation revealed that Ms. A and her group had been drinking together just before the accident, and Ms. A’s blood alcohol concentration was confirmed to be at the level warranting license cancellation.
