LG CNS Selected as Preferred Negotiation Partner for 5.4 Trillion KRW Busan Smart City National Pilot Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG CNS was selected as the preferred negotiation partner on the 18th for the construction and operation project of the ‘Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City.’
The ‘Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City’ is the largest smart city project in South Korea, commissioned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Water Resources Corporation. The total project scale is approximately 5.4 trillion KRW, with a project period of 15 years, including 5 years of construction and 10 years of operation.
The construction project of the ‘Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City’ involves developing commercial, business, residential, and cultural facilities on a site of about 840,000 pyeong, similar in size to Yeouido in Gangseo-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, applying advanced IT new technologies to create a smart and sustainable city.
LG CNS plans to oversee the establishment of digital transformation (DX) services including AI and data, autonomous driving, mobility, robotics, digital twin, healthcare, cybersecurity, smart IoT, and lifestyle innovation services.
Through AI-based user pattern analysis, LG CNS will operate buses, subways, taxis, autonomous shuttles, shared cars, electric vehicle charging stations, and parking lots. Users will be able to integrate reservation and payment for transportation modes through a single app, implementing a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) service.
For the ‘Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City’ project, LG CNS formed ‘The In (人) Consortium,’ gathering top companies of large, medium, and small scale in core smart city sectors such as finance, construction, mobility, renewable energy, telecommunications, and healthcare.
‘The In (人) Consortium’ consists of 12 companies, led by LG CNS as the main representative, including △Shinhan Bank △Hyundai Construction △Hanyang △SK Ecoplant △LG HelloVision △Humax Mobility △Korea DRD △WINS △NCOM △E8 △Health Connect, among others.
Previously, LG CNS was also selected last year as the builder for the country’s first national pilot city, the ‘Sejong Smart City National Pilot City.’ Similar to the ‘Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City,’ the Sejong project involves constructing a smart city on a blank site of about 830,000 pyeong, with a project scale reaching approximately 3.2 trillion KRW.
