Kim Ki-hyun: "Democratic Party Not in Position to Attack Yoon Jae-soon When Looking at Tak Hyun-min"
"Yoon Jae-soon, Not a Statement Made in an Official Setting"
Kang Yong-seok, Controversy Even Over the Term 'Unification'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 17th, Kim Gi-hyeon, a member of the People Power Party, defended Yoon Jae-soon, the Chief Secretary for General Affairs at the Presidential Office, against opposition party claims opposing his appointment due to inappropriate poems he wrote in the past, stating that "it was not a statement made in an official capacity," and instead criticized former Blue House Protocol Secretary Tak Hyun-min.
In an interview with BBS Radio on the same day, Rep. Kim explained, "This person (Yoon Jae-soon) is a poet who has made his debut," adding, "Although some poetic expressions might sound awkward or uncomfortable depending on how you listen, these poems were created based on the moral standards of 20 years ago."
He continued, "It was not an official activity, so it is not a disqualifying reason or a situation that warrants stripping him of his secretary position."
Rep. Kim pointed out, "Conversely, President Moon Jae-in cherished and kept Secretary Tak Hyun-min until the end, even though he was sentenced for election crimes, yet he still maintained his administrative officer position." He also cited Tak’s book titled 'A Guide to Understanding a Man’s Heart,' noting that it contained many inappropriate expressions.
Rep. Kim said, "That person was the secretary who continuously supported President Moon Jae-in until the very end," and added, "In comparison, I think the Democratic Party is not in a position to openly attack Chief Secretary Yoon Jae-soon so blatantly."

Regarding the unification between Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate, and Kang Yong-seok, an independent candidate, in the Gyeonggi Province governor election, he said, "There were various other controversies before even using the term unification, so we need to consider it more carefully," but added, "From a broader perspective, the conservative forces must secure the Gyeonggi governorship this time for Gyeonggi Province to develop."
