President Yoon Says "Will Consider" Possibility of Appointing Han Dong-hoon and Jung Ho-young
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] On the 17th, President Yoon Seok-yeol stated that he would "consider" the appointment of Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, and Jeong Ho-young, the nominee for Minister of Health and Welfare. In political circles, it is expected that President Yoon will approve the appointment of Han on the same day. However, regarding Jeong, it is highly likely that more time will be taken for the sake of cooperation with the opposition party.
On the morning of the same day, while heading to his office in Yongsan, President Yoon responded to the question, "Have you decided on the appointment of nominee Jeong Ho-young?" by saying, "There are still several ministerial nominees who have not been appointed yet."
When asked, "Will you proceed with the appointment of Han Dong-hoon as Minister of Justice today?" he said, "Since the personnel hearing report had not arrived until yesterday, I will review it once I get to the office."
Regarding the status of Yoon Jae-soon, the Chief Secretary for General Affairs at the Presidential Office, who was disciplined for sexual misconduct, he avoided the question by saying, "No other questions, right? Have a good day."

Meanwhile, on the 9th, President Yoon requested the resubmission of the personnel hearing report on nominee Jeong. Although it has been possible to appoint Jeong as minister since the 10th, the appointment has not yet been approved. Political circles interpret this as the administration monitoring the reactions of the opposition party and public opinion, also considering that it could place a burden on the party preparing for the June 1 local elections.
