Presidential Office: "President Yoon Has Not Spoken with Kang Yong-seok"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Presidential Office stated on the 16th that President Yoon Seok-yeol did not have a phone conversation with Kang Yong-seok, an independent candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor.
The presidential spokesperson's office left a brief notice to reporters that day, saying, "The president has not spoken with lawyer Kang Yong-seok. Please refer to this regarding the reports."
Earlier, candidate Kang said in a phone interview with Yonhap News, "President Yoon called me last week when he was president-elect," adding, "President Yoon asked, 'Why attack Kim Eun-hye (People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi governor) instead of Kim Dong-yeon (Democratic Party candidate for Gyeonggi governor)?'"
In response, the Democratic Party filed a complaint with the Gyeonggi Provincial Election Commission accusing President Yoon of violating the Public Official Election Act by interfering in the election during his call with candidate Kang while he was president-elect.
