Hapcheon Volunteer Center Conducts 'Hello Campaign, Everyone's Wetland 2' Program
Wetland Exploration and Cleanup Activities Conducted
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Hapcheon-gun Volunteer Center conducted the ‘Hello Campaign, Everyone’s Wetland 2’ program on the 14th at Jeongyangneup in Daeyang-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, together with 15 residents who had pre-registered.
The program held that day aimed at a carbon neutrality campaign involving 18 volunteer centers from cities and counties in Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Ramsar Environmental Foundation. Following last year, this year’s program included a wetland exploration and cleanup activity guided by a Jeongyangneup wetland interpreter.
To experience and promote the beauty of wetland organisms, the program included making bag charms using the fruit of the dicotyledonous plant ‘Mareum’ that grows in the wetland, as well as creating a pictorial book about wetland organisms and landscapes.
A student who participated in the program said, “Seeing the wetland while listening to the interpreter’s explanation made it look new,” and added, “Drawing the wetland and organisms I saw with my own eyes helped me think about the importance of wetlands, and the hands-on activities were fun.”
