Agricultural and industrial complexes have played a pivotal role as core infrastructure for the development of rural industries, regional balanced development, and national economic growth since their establishment in 1984. Currently, more than 61% of the 474 complexes nationwide are aging complexes over 20 years old, creating a demand for effective revitalization measures.
SBC prepared this meeting to proactively identify difficulties faced by companies residing in agricultural and industrial complexes, such as aging complexes and regional population outflow, and to discuss effective policy support measures to help strengthen corporate competitiveness.
The meeting was attended by Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC; Han Ki-heung, Chairman of the Korea Agricultural and Industrial Complex Federation; Jeon Jong-oh, CEO of Daedong Marine Tech; and executives from 10 member companies of the Korea Agricultural and Industrial Complex Federation. At the meeting, company representatives conveyed voices from the field, including the expansion of various policy supports for companies in aging agricultural and industrial complexes and strengthening linked support for manpower. Policy alternatives to enhance the competitiveness of agricultural and industrial complexes, such as strategies to respond to regional extinction crises and revitalization plans for agricultural and industrial complexes, were also discussed.
