Minju: "Framing Lee Jae-myung and being brazen"... Ruling Party defends against 'Daejang-dong offensive'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 15th, the Democratic Party of Korea strongly criticized the People Power Party, saying, "It's like a robber complaining about theft after having his weapon taken away to prevent his tyranny."
Jung Jin-wook, spokesperson for candidate Lee, stated in a commentary on the same day, "Kim Ki-hyun, co-chairman of the People Power Party's local election campaign committee, reversed the accusation and called candidate Lee a thief, showing a textbook example of shamelessness." This came as the People Power Party appeared to be resuming their 'Daejang-dong offensive' targeting candidate Lee Jae-myung, who is running in the Incheon Gyeyang-eul by-election held alongside the June 1 local elections.

Spokesperson Jung said, "Hwacheon Daeyu was born out of the inadequate investigation into the Busan Savings Bank corruption, and the '50 Billion Club' who shared the profits are the main culprits," adding, "Only figures from the People Power Party side, including former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do, have been exposed." He further claimed, "It was also the People Power Party who opposed public development, allowing all Daejang-dong development profits to be taken by the private sector," and argued, "If things had gone according to the People Power Party's claims, all the enormous scale of public interest recovery achieved by candidate Lee would have gone to fattening the pockets of specific businesspeople."
