'First Generation of Industrialization' Gu Ja-hak, Chairman of Ourhome, Passes Away... Funeral Service Held Today

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The funeral ceremony for the late Gu Jahak, chairman of Ourhome, was held at 7 a.m. on the 15th at the funeral hall of Seoul Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Attending the funeral were the deceased's spouse, Lee Sook-hee, eldest son and former Ourhome vice chairman Gu Bon-seong, youngest daughter and current Ourhome vice chairman Gu Ji-eun, eldest and second daughters Mi-hyun and Myung-jin, along with other bereaved family members and Ourhome executives and employees. Lee Myung-hee, chairwoman of Shinsegae Group, Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin, Gu Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group, and Heo Chang-soo, honorary chairman of GS, also attended to pay their last respects.
Chairman Gu's funeral was conducted as a company funeral over four days, with Kang Yoo-sik, chairman of LG Yeonam Foundation, serving as the funeral committee chairman. At the funeral ceremony, Gu Ja-yeol, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association and chairman of the LS board of directors, who is the deceased's cousin, delivered the eulogy. After the funeral, the deceased was laid to rest at Gwangju Park Cemetery in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The late chairman was a first-generation industrialist who had been active as a business leader in various industries including food, chemicals, electronics, and construction since 1960. In 1957, he married Lee Sook-hee, the third daughter of the late Lee Byung-chul, founder of Samsung Group. He held positions at Cheil Jedang, Hotel Shilla, and served as CEO of Lucky, president of Geumseongsa, vice chairman of Lucky-Goldstar Group, chairman of LG Semiconductors, chairman of LG Engineering, and chairman of LG Construction.
