Samsung Electronics Drops from 2nd to 4th Place in Forbes Global Tech Companies Ranking
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Samsung Electronics dropped to 4th place in the list of the 'World's Largest Technology Companies in 2022' selected by the economic media Forbes. Its previous ranking was 2nd.
Forbes explained the ranking background by stating, "Samsung Electronics was particularly vulnerable due to supply chain issues" and "suffered greatly from COVID-19 lockdowns in China." It added, "Samsung lost its position as the world's top smartphone seller to Apple for the first time."
Samsung achieved a record-breaking revenue of $244 billion, but its stock price plummeted, causing its market capitalization to shrink by nearly 30%.
