People Power Party: "Democratic Party Tarnished by Sexual Crimes, Do They Only Excel at Deflection?"
Criticism of Gominjung and Kim Seonghoe's Remarks
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party directly targeted the sexual misconduct allegations arising within the Democratic Party of Korea, asking, "Is their only skill deflection?"
On the 15th, Hur Eun-ah, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary, "The Democratic Party, stained by sexual crimes, should first undergo sincere reflection and apology, yet they are instead attempting a 'ghost fishing operation' by dragging in the sexual misconduct issue of a presidential office secretary."
Earlier, Democratic Party lawmaker Go Min-jung criticized Kim Seong-hoe, the Presidential Office Secretary for Religion and Multicultural Affairs, for his derogatory remarks about Japanese military comfort women victims and homophobic comments, calling them "utterly questionable statements that make one doubt his mental state."
Spokesperson Hur said, "The biggest problem with the Democratic Party's current 'ghost fishing operation' and 'political deflection' is that it fosters 'political distrust' among the public," adding, "Furthermore, it leads to 'political disgust,' which could result in 'random voting' or abstention in the nationwide simultaneous local elections to select regional workers just two weeks away, making its impact an absolute evil."
He criticized, "Since the launch of the Moon Jae-in administration, the Democratic Party shocked the public with a series of sexual violence incidents involving metropolitan governors such as former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung, former Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don, and the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, incidents rarely seen in history," calling them "cases that reveal the ugly double standards of morality among Democratic Party figures, so-called 'activists'."

He continued, "The reason the public turned away from the Democratic Party in the April 7 by-elections and the presidential election was due to their insincere apologies and secondary harm that ignored victims' human rights while protecting their own members whenever incidents occurred," urging, "We hope the Democratic Party, which tramples on women's rights, reflects on whether it has the right to speak of women's rights and call itself a feminist party."
