Gyeonggi-do Expands 'Elementary School Student Dental Care Physician' Program... Including Out-of-School Youth
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will implement a dental primary care project for 4th-grade elementary school students in the province.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th that it will carry out the "Dental Primary Care Project," which provides prevention-centered oral care services for elementary school students, from May 16 to November 30.
The elementary school dental primary care project supports 4th-grade children, who are at the stage where permanent teeth alignment is completed and oral health management is most effective, to receive free oral examinations, oral health education, and preventive treatment at designated dental medical institutions. This year, the target group includes not only 4th-grade elementary students residing in Gyeonggi Province but also out-of-school youth of the same age. Accordingly, the total number of eligible participants is 135,220.
Target students must complete a questionnaire and online video education through the "DentiEye Gyeonggi" app before visiting the dentist, then make a phone reservation and visit the designated dental clinic.
Last year, the province completed dental primary care examinations for 229,639 4th and 5th-grade elementary students. In a survey of students (and their guardians), 95.4% responded that they were satisfied.
