Presidential Office: "North Korea Seems Ready for Nuclear Test... Missile Test Possible Before Experiment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Presidential Office commented on the possibility of North Korea's '7th nuclear test,' stating, "It seems that preparations for a nuclear test are in place. However, there is also a possibility that various types of missile tests might be conducted before the nuclear test."
A Presidential Office official explained at a briefing room in the Yongsan office on the 13th, "North Korea has conducted six tests already, so we are assessing with the United States whether an additional nuclear test is necessary, whether it is technical or political."
The official also said, "Since the South Korea-US summit is scheduled for next week, we are preparing a very detailed action plan regarding North Korea and the Korean Peninsula issues, regional matters, bilateral cooperation, and global issues."

When asked about the economic impact of the 7th nuclear test, the official added, "Although the economy would react in the short term if a seventh nuclear test is conducted after six, many experts believe that the Ukraine war and the fundamentals of the global economic crisis are bigger structural variables than that, as I understand it."
