Seoul Volunteer Camps Across the City Begin New Relationship Recovery Activities After COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 12th, the Seoul Volunteer Center announced on the 13th that it officially launched 'Volunteering by My Side' with over 300 activists from 25 district volunteer centers and 106 volunteer camps at the 'Nodeul Island Multipurpose Hall.'
Under the slogan "A New Start for Volunteer Camps, People Who Support by Your Side," this event was held to remember that volunteering, which had been subdued during the pandemic, can play a very important role in the recovery of daily life, and to signify that volunteer camps will lead this beginning.
Starting with this event, the 25 district volunteer centers and 106 neighborhood volunteer camps will actively promote volunteering by my side, carrying out activities to meet socially isolated and lonely neighbors. Volunteering by my side is being prepared to gradually expand so that it can be participated in by all neighborhood volunteer camps in 2024.
Volunteer camps are waiting for local residents who wish to participate in volunteering by my side with a willing heart, and it is also possible to sponsor necessary items such as daily necessities and side dishes to be delivered to the homes of neighbors in need. It is hoped that more residents will find fun and meaning in 'volunteering for neighbors living close to me in the neighborhood.'

Center Director Kim Eui-wook said, "Our society has become accustomed to keeping distance from unfamiliar neighbors while experiencing COVID-19, becoming insensitive to the fact that there are neighbors who are socially isolated and lonely," and added, "The recovery of daily life begins with connecting relationships, so I hope volunteering by my side can be the start of recovery, and I look forward to your participation."
