System Improvements for Rapid Detection of Accidents and Elimination of Blind Spots in Jeongneung Tunnel on the Internal Circulation Road
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 13th that it will implement partial nighttime traffic control from May 15 to June 2 due to the improvement work on the video devices (CCTV) in the Jeongneung Tunnel on the Naebusunhwan-ro.
The entire 1.9 km section of the Jeongneung Tunnel on Naebusunhwan-ro in both directions is subject to the control, with partial control of one lane out of three lanes in one direction expected from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day.
The CCTV improvement work involves replacing the existing analog CCTV with digital systems and installing a video anomaly detection system, enabling faster detection and response in case of accidents inside the tunnel. Additionally, some blind spots inside the tunnel will be eliminated.
The corporation is making efforts such as conducting daily accident response drills, as traffic accidents inside tunnels can lead to severe damage, and expects that this video device improvement will contribute to enhancing the safety of commuters.
