Krafton Achieves Record Quarterly Revenue of 523 Billion KRW in Q1 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Krafton achieved its highest quarterly sales ever in the first quarter of 2022.
Krafton announced on the 12th that it recorded sales of 523 billion KRW and an operating profit of 311.9 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year. These figures represent increases of 13.5% and 37%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The operating profit surged by 626% compared to the previous quarter due to normalization of expenses following reductions in operating costs such as marketing expenses and the elimination of one-time costs including stock compensation expenses.
In the first quarter, the Battlegrounds intellectual property (IP) showed balanced growth across platforms. PC sales increased by 61% year-on-year, recording 106.1 billion KRW, a slight decrease from the previous quarter, while console sales rose 274% year-on-year and 124% quarter-on-quarter, demonstrating solid growth across all platforms.
Mobile sales, contributed by Battlegrounds Mobile, reached 395.9 billion KRW, up 5% year-on-year and 30% quarter-on-quarter. The company explained that revenue expanded as user interest and loyalty continued to grow based on collaboration among IPs and a live service structure.
