Professor Han Kyung-do, Soongsil University, Receives Han-Dok Academic Award... Contributing to Advances in Diabetes Research
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Professor Han Kyung-do of the Department of Information Statistics and Actuarial Science at Soongsil University has been selected as the recipient of the 18th Young Investigator Award (Handok Academic Award), organized by the Korean Diabetes Association (Chairman Won Kyu-jang) and sponsored by Handok.
The Young Investigator Award is an academic award given to medical professionals who have contributed to the advancement of diabetes research in Korea. It is awarded to members of the Korean Diabetes Association aged 45 or younger, based on a review of research papers published as first or corresponding authors in internationally prestigious journals (SCI journals) over the past three years.
Professor Han was selected this year for conducting a nationwide population-based cohort study on the risk of dementia according to glycemic status and hyperglycemic complications. This paper was published last year in the world-renowned journal Diabetes Care. In addition, Professor Han has been actively contributing to the advancement of diabetes research in Korea by publishing over 50 diabetes-related research papers in international academic journals over the past three years.

The Young Investigator Award ceremony will be held on the 14th at the Hwa-baek Convention Center in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province, during the Korean Diabetes Association Spring Scientific Meeting.
