Wando Smart Healing Village Selected as Jeonnam's Representative Wellness Tourism Destination
Cutting-Edge Information and Communication Technology Combined with Healing for Wellness Tourism Destinations
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] On the 11th, Jeonnam Wando-gun announced that being selected as a rural healing village is expected to serve as a catalyst for revitalizing stay-type tourism.
The "Wando Smart Healing Village" located in the county was finally selected on the 2nd in the Jeonnam Tourism Foundation's representative wellness tourism site contest in Jeonnam, following the "Living in the Countryside" program hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
This contest project is promoted to discover and foster representative wellness tourism sites in Jeonnam and to revitalize stay-type tourism, in response to the increasing travel demand for healing and health and the "2022~2023 Visit Jeonnam Year."
Fifteen tourist sites in the province applied for the contest, and seven sites including the "Wando Smart Healing Village" were finally selected by evaluating suitability as tourist facilities, differentiation from general tourist sites, program operation and usage performance, and potential for tourism product development.
The Wando Smart Healing Village was established last year with an investment of 2 billion won through selection in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's contest project, consisting of a smart healing center, a leisure, culture, and community life service platform utilizing advanced information and communication technology, and two healing houses as accommodation facilities.
The main facilities of the smart healing center include a VR experience zone, AI robot barista, maekbanseok spa, multipurpose room, and specialty product sales facilities.
The Jeonnam Tourism Foundation will form a team of experts around the end of May to start on-site visits and interviews with related personnel, supporting consulting for wellness product development and production of promotional materials.
Han Hee-seok, General Affairs Manager, stated, "We hope that the smart healing village, which combines cutting-edge information and communication technology with healing, will become a new tourist attraction in Wando and contribute to attracting tourists and improving residential conditions."
