Two Super Hanwoo Cattle Over 1 Ton Each Shipped Consecutively for Two Days in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam
Both Received 1++ Grade
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it consecutively shipped two super Hanwoo cattle weighing over 1 ton on the 2nd and 3rd of last month.
The farmers who produced the super Hanwoo are Mr. Lee Pan-gyeong from Chogye-myeon and Mr. Jeon Byeong-hwan from Jeokjung-myeon. Both cattle received the highest grade of 1++, and their owners earned sales proceeds exceeding 20 million won.
Mr. Jeon Byeong-hwan is a master Hanwoo breeder who had already produced a super Hanwoo last year. Despite being 76 years old, he continues to show passion for Hanwoo breeding.
Mr. Lee Pan-gyeong from Chogye-myeon has also consistently produced excellent Hanwoo through his outstanding breeding skills.
This achievement is the result of joint efforts by Hapcheon-gun, Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative, and Hanwoo breeders in Hapcheon-gun to improve breeding. The county expects more super Hanwoo to be born in the future.
This year, the county's Livestock Division is investing 2 billion won out of a total budget of 16 billion won in the Hanwoo improvement project to continuously produce Hanwoo with excellent genetic ability. Currently ranked second nationwide in the number of elite cows, the county plans to become number one in the second half of the year.
Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative signed an MOU last year with the National Institute of Animal Science and the Department of Animal Science at Gyeongsang National University to accelerate the Hanwoo improvement project for fostering a group of top-quality large Hanwoo. They are contributing to Hanwoo farmers by producing Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo feed of the highest quality.
Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo TMF feed has become very popular among Hanwoo farmers, with demand exceeding supply, leading to recent expansion of the packaging line.
Kim Yong-wook, chairman of Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative, said, “We will work in step with the county to support Hanwoo farmers by focusing on Hanwoo improvement and feed quality enhancement.”
