'Gathering Ban Violation Drinking Party' Choi Jin-hyuk Fined 500,000 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Actor Choi Jin-hyuk, who was caught holding a drinking party at a nightlife establishment that violated gathering restriction measures, has been fined.
According to the legal community on the 10th, Judge Kim Taek-seong of the Criminal Division 2 at the Seoul Central District Court recently issued a summary order imposing a fine of 500,000 won on Choi, who was summarily prosecuted for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, matching the amount requested by the prosecution.
Choi is accused of holding a drinking party last October at a nightlife establishment in Samseong-dong, Nam-gu, violating the gathering restriction measures. The establishment was subject to a complete business ban under the Level 4 social distancing measures applied in the Seoul area but was caught operating illegally.

The prosecution also summarily prosecuted about 30 people, including customers and hostesses who were at the establishment with Choi, on the same charges. Summary prosecution is a procedure where the prosecution requests fines or penalties through written review instead of a formal trial.
