According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on the 10th, 49,933 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total confirmed cases to 17,614,895. The number of new cases on this day decreased by 1,188 compared to 51,121 new cases reported a week earlier on the 3rd. Although the daily new cases on the 8th and 9th increased compared to the 1st and 2nd, the number decreased again on this day.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 398, marking the 300s for the first time in 81 days. This is 23 fewer than the previous day (421). The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 19.2%. The occupancy rates in the metropolitan area and non-metropolitan areas are 17.9% and 22.2%, respectively.
The number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 62, an increase of 22 from the previous day (40). The cumulative death toll is 23,462, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
With 42,040 new patients added to home treatment the previous day, the total number of home treatment patients as of midnight on this day is 231,127. Among them, 17,397 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.
