"Women in Their 40s and 50s Open Wallets for Sun Care Products Directly Linked to Aging"
As the number of golf enthusiasts rapidly increases, the demand for various beauty products needed for rounding is also rising. With the outdoor mask mandate lifted, many are seeking products related to sun protection. In particular, consumers looking for sun care products that can protect the skin from sunlight have significantly increased.
According to Gmarket on the 10th, the sales volume of sun care-related products sold on Gmarket in the past month (April 9 to May 8) increased up to five times. Sun sticks and balms, which are convenient for frequent reapplication during rounds, recorded a sales growth rate of 293%, nearly four times higher, while sun pacts and sun powders (472%) were sold more than five times as much. Sun sprays, which are easy to use on arms and legs, increased sales by 27%, and widely used sun creams also saw a sales increase of over 20% (21%). Golf patches, which provide strong UV protection, have recently surged in popularity, recording a 22% sales growth rate. Golf stockings, designed to block UV rays on exposed legs when wearing skirts or shorts, also sold 34% more.
Women in their 40s and 50s were the most active spenders on sun care products. It is analyzed that they reacted more sensitively since UV rays are directly linked to skin aging such as spots and wrinkles. The growth rates for sun sticks and balms (310%), sun pacts and sun powders (478%), sun sprays (45%), and golf patches (66%) sold to women in their 40s and 50s all exceeded the average growth rates of each product.
In addition to UV protection, the sales of care products that can manage touch-up makeup and soothe skin heated after rounding also increased. Cushions and pacts, which can fix makeup erased by sweat, sold 14% more. After-sun care products saw sales rise more than fourfold (325%). Mists (113%) and packs/masks (75%), which lower skin temperature and replenish moisture, also showed high sales.
