Yoon Administration's First Deputy Minister of Employment Appointed as Kwon Ki-seop, Head of Headquarters
Kwon Ki-seop, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Headquarters at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, has been nominated as the first Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol announced on the 9th the nominees for deputy ministers of 15 ministries, including Deputy Minister nominee Kwon.
Nominee Kwon graduated from Daejeon Bomun High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics, and entered public service by passing the 36th Administrative Examination.
He has held key positions such as Director of the Labor Inspection Policy Division, Director of the Employment Policy Office, and Director of the Labor Policy Office, and most recently served as Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Headquarters, where he was in charge of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
The Occupational Safety and Health Headquarters is responsible for establishing industrial safety and health policies and supporting supervision and prevention. Nominee Kwon is evaluated to have performed relatively well in handling and investigating related tasks during the early implementation of the highly socially sensitive Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
