Lee Jeong-seon, Gwangju Education Superintendent Preliminary Candidate, Promises Balanced Development Infrastructure for Gwangju Education
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Jeongseon, a preliminary candidate for Superintendent of Education of Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 9th a pledge to evenly establish educational infrastructure throughout all areas of Gwangju so that every child in Gwangju can equally enjoy educational benefits.
The candidate stated, “No matter where they live, our children should equally enjoy educational benefits and everyone should be able to nurture their dreams and hopes,” adding, “Based on the demands heard from meeting and communicating with Gwangju citizens, I will promote regional equal education policies reflecting the characteristics of each area in Gwangju.”
In Dong-gu, promises include creating the Gwangju Education Culture and Arts Belt, installing student busking performance venues, and operating Gwangju Youth School and Gwangju On Village School (after-school and care support). In Seo-gu, he pledged to establish the Gwangju Democracy History Nuri Site, Career and Academic Education Center, Arts Education Gifted Center, Student Safety Education Center, and create the Youth Liberation Zone “Yaho zone.”
In Nam-gu, the pledges include a youth-exclusive complex library, Gwangju Global Education Center, opening a second Gwangju Student Arts Nuri Site and a second Arts Gifted Education Center, and relocating the Gwangju Education Policy Research Institute. In Buk-gu, promises include establishing an AI Education Research Institute, AI Meister High School, creating future-oriented student play spaces, Gwangju Student Sports Comprehensive Support Center, and Gwangju Education Civic Cooperation Promotion Institute.
In Gwangsan-gu, proposals include restoring the Gwangsan Education Support Office to its original state, establishing a new girls’ high school in Gwangsan-gu, relocating private schools in Gwangsan-gu, founding a Meister High School, and operating the Dagachi Education Center.
