Domestic SMEs show great interest in smart factories to improve product quality and reduce costs, but hesitate to adopt them due to the burden of initial investment costs and a lack of know-how for operation and maintenance.
Accordingly, LG Uplus plans to expand subscription-based smart factory services such as AI vision inspection, pump predictive maintenance, and motor diagnostics?services that have high interest and proven efficiency among SME customers?within this year. In particular, LG Uplus has been selected as a project operator in the 5G-based MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) national project "Smart Industrial Complex" in regions such as Yeosu, Jeonnam Province, and Ulsan Metropolitan City over the past two years as part of the Digital New Deal initiative. The company has experience and references providing smart factory services to SMEs in various industries including electronics, automotive, and chemicals.

The subscription-based smart factory service is implemented by connecting MEC centers established in metropolitan areas such as Sangam, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju with customer factories via a 5G network. Even without separate systems or experts at the factory, customers can use intelligent smart factory services, and the subscription model helps reduce initial investment costs.
