Recent False Bomb Threats Reported in Russia's Far East
No Known Connection Among Them Revealed
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Nayeon] Recently, a series of false bomb threat reports have caused evacuations of students and others in the Russian Far East region.
According to Russian state news agency Interfax and Far East regional media on the 8th, on the 6th, the Vladivostok authorities in Primorsky Krai received a bomb threat report.
The anonymous caller claimed that bombs had been planted at Vladivostok International Airport, 25 schools, kindergartens, and the Far Eastern Federal University buildings. Security personnel and military forces were deployed to search these facilities, but no explosives were found.
The airport stated, "There was no evacuation of passengers or staff due to the bomb threat report," adding, "The search has been completed and the airport operated normally."
On the same day, all schools in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka Peninsula also suspended morning classes due to a false bomb threat.
According to Interfax, during the past week, there were three bomb threat reports concerning school buildings in the Kamchatka Peninsula region. Each time, military and police forces were dispatched to conduct searches, but no explosives were found.
Additionally, since the end of last month, there have been false bomb threat reports in Khabarovsk Krai and Amur Oblast, causing evacuations of students and teachers.

Although similar false bomb threat reports have been occurring recently in the Russian Far East, no connections among these incidents have been identified so far.
