Two Naval Academy Cadets About to Commission Sexually Assault Sleeping Female Cadet While Intoxicated
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] An incident occurred at the Naval Academy where two male cadets sexually assaulted a foreign female trainee.
The Jinhae Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that it had sent two former Naval Academy cadets to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office on charges of sexually assaulting a fellow female cadet (special rape, etc.).
One of the perpetrators is Korean, and the other is a foreign trainee cadet. The two are accused of sexually assaulting a female foreign trainee cadet of the same grade who was asleep intoxicated at the foreign trainee dormitory of the Naval Academy in Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, in the early morning of January 3.
The police understood that both perpetrators were in their fourth year at the time of the crime, with only about two months left before commissioning.
Initially, the Naval Investigation Unit investigated this case, but since one of the perpetrators is a foreigner and the military prosecution has no investigative authority, and the other was expelled for violating school regulations and thus changed to civilian status, the police took over the investigation.

The Korean perpetrator admitted to the crime during the police investigation, but the foreign perpetrator is reported to be denying the charges. However, based on evidence such as the foreign perpetrator's DNA and the victim's testimony, the police judged that there was sufficient evidence and sent both individuals to the prosecution.
