Yeonggwang-gun to Establish 'Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center'
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun announced on the 6th that the Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center will begin construction in the Daema Industrial Complex in June and is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.
This certification center is part of the "Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center Construction Project," selected in the 2021 public contest, with a project budget of 20 billion KRW (10 billion KRW national funds, 10 billion KRW local funds) and a total area of 1,847㎡ (1 basement floor, 1 above-ground floor).
The county plans to complete the facility and introduce electromagnetic certification equipment by the end of next year.
With the government's policy to expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles and the smooth establishment of infrastructure such as the expansion of electric vehicle charger installations, the demand for electric vehicle purchases is explosively increasing. However, there is currently no domestic certification base for electromagnetic interference and human impact suitability of these produced electric vehicles.
In this situation, the establishment of the Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center in the Daema Industrial Complex of Yeonggwang-gun holds significant meaning in the domestic automobile industry sector.
Until now, since no electromagnetic certification facilities have been established domestically, domestic automobile companies have spent considerable time and costs obtaining certification in Europe.
However, once the Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center is established in the Daema Industrial Complex, vehicles produced domestically will be able to receive electromagnetic certification within the Daema Industrial Complex without needing certification from China or Europe.
This will reduce certification costs compared to obtaining certification through Europe, resulting in a reduction in automobile production costs.
The county expects that through electromagnetic compatibility certification for all vehicle types, including medium and large electric buses and hydrogen electric trucks, it will create an opportunity for the development of the e-mobility industry and revitalization of the local economy by attracting investments from future car-related companies to the Daema Industrial Complex.
A county official said, "As part of the e-mobility yo cluster construction project, we will actively promote the project to build the Future Car Electromagnetic Compatibility Certification Center and certification system in the Daema Industrial Complex, turning the footsteps of automobile companies that were heading to Europe and China toward the Daema Industrial Complex, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
