Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Excellent Welfare Facility Incentive Support Project'
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, announced on the 6th that it will promote the ‘Excellent Welfare Facility Incentive Support Project’ starting this year to improve the treatment of workers at social welfare facilities in the region and enhance the satisfaction of welfare facility users through welfare promotion.
The city targets 40 living and multi-use facilities in the region, and plans to select a final 5 facilities to provide differentiated rewards within a total range of 20 million KRW.
Social welfare facilities are evaluated by central government ministries once every 2 to 3 years according to relevant laws.
Although they undergo regular and occasional inspections by local governments and Jeollabuk-do every year, these are mostly punitive in nature, and there have been opinions that incentive support for exemplary facilities is insufficient.
Accordingly, the city plans to provide focused support such as awarding prize money to top facilities that show remarkable efforts and achievements in facility operation improvement through its own evaluation.
This year’s application for excellent facility support is from the 4th to the 11th, and facilities wishing to apply can submit the application form and related supporting documents to the department in charge of the facility.
Afterwards, the city plans to select the final excellent facilities for incentive support at the end of this month through deliberation by the evaluation committee based on the score sheet and supporting documents.
The incentive support funds can be used for improving working conditions such as replacing old computers for workers and holding workshops to improve the treatment of social welfare facility workers.
A city official said, “We expect that the incentive support will secure sound facility operation and provide comfort to workers for their heavy workload,” and added, “We will continue to pay attention and make efforts for treatment improvement in the future.”
