About 50 young people in their 20s and 30s from Gwangyang gathered on the 5th at the election office of Kim Jae-mu, candidate for mayor of Gwangyang in Jungmadong, stating, "He is a trusted candidate who has developed empathetic policies for youth from early on," and "We support candidate Kim Jae-mu's policies, as he has a managerial mindset from running a business more than anyone else."
They said, "We are being pushed aside in this fiercely competitive society," and appealed, "Please help us not to leave Gwangyang at a time when expectations and hopes are fading."
Candidate Kim Jae-mu pledged ▲ support for rental housing for young newlyweds ▲ support for youth startups and activation of support projects ▲ professional education and job creation ▲ establishment of cooperation systems between Gwangyang City and industry-academia-research institutes ▲ creation of trendy jobs preferred by youth ▲ creation of youth streets (food trucks, busking), among others.
Kim said, "I empathize more than anyone with the fact that the young generation, who play a central role in the region, are struggling with despair due to job issues," and promised, "I will faithfully realize the proposed pledges such as support for youth startups and create a young Gwangyang that sings dreams and hopes."
