According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 41,258 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide. This is 6,474 fewer than the 47,732 cases reported during the same time frame the previous day.
Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new cases to be announced on the 5th is expected to increase further, likely reaching the mid-to-high 40,000s or the 50,000 range.
By region, 18,621 cases (45.1%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 22,637 cases (54.9%) in non-metropolitan areas. Gyeonggi 10,012 cases, Seoul 6,643 cases, Gyeongbuk 2,983 cases, Gyeongnam 2,609 cases, Daegu 2,146 cases, Jeonnam 1,927 cases, Incheon 1,966 cases, Chungnam 1,867 cases, Jeonbuk 1,761 cases, Chungbuk 1,507 cases, Gangwon 1,626 cases, Gwangju 1,440 cases, Daejeon 1,467 cases, Busan 1,386 cases, Ulsan 1,043 cases, Jeju 519 cases, Sejong 356 cases.

The number of new cases continues to decline. Over the past week from the 28th of last month, the daily new cases were 57,460 → 50,568 → 43,286 → 37,771 → 20,084 → 51,131 → 49,064, averaging 44,195 cases per day.
