BPA Establishes 'Guidelines for Promoting Recycled Aggregate Use'... Turning Waste into Resources, Expected Benefit of 5.6 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) has established an internal regulation called the "Guidelines for Promoting the Use of Recycled Aggregate, etc." which includes provisions to promote the use of recycled aggregate.
The guidelines aim to stipulate necessary matters for promoting the use of recycled aggregate, etc. in construction projects ordered by BPA for the eco-friendly treatment and efficient use of construction waste.
The main contents of the guidelines include standards for ▲mandatory usage scope and purposes of recycled aggregate ▲mandatory usage amount ▲quality standards and management ▲usage performance and planning ▲education and rewards.
In December last year, BPA signed an MOU with the Korea Construction Resources Association and the Korea Construction Resources Mutual Aid Association to expand the use of recycled aggregate, and has been continuously communicating with related industries to lead resource-circulating port construction.
Although port construction projects are not subject to mandatory use of recycled aggregate under relevant laws, BPA has promoted the use of recycled aggregate meeting quality standards in projects ordered by Busan Port Authority.
BPA announced that in 2022, it expanded the use of recycled aggregate by approximately 248% compared to the usage performance of the past two years, expecting benefits worth about 5.6 billion KRW.
