First Korea-Japan Director-General Talks in Half a Year, "Continuous Communication for Relationship Restoration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] South Korea and Japan held a director-general level diplomatic consultation on the 3rd and agreed to continue communication to restore bilateral relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee Sang-ryeol, Director-General of the Asia-Pacific Bureau, met with Takehiro Funakoshi, Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Doryeom-dong, Seoul, in the afternoon to discuss bilateral issues. This was the first director-general level consultation between Korea and Japan in six months since November last year.
Before the inauguration of the new government, both sides reviewed and evaluated various pending issues between Korea and Japan as well as the outcomes of the Korea-Japan policy consultation delegation’s visit to Japan last month.
