Certification of 6 Products Including Base Stations and Wireless Modules
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] As the market for Korea's specialized 5G network 'I-eum 5G' blossoms, competition in telecommunications equipment has intensified.
The National Radio Research Agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 1st that it has newly issued conformity assessment (hereafter radio certification) certificates for broadcasting and telecommunications equipment related to base stations and wireless modules used in I-eum 5G to six products from four companies.
I-eum 5G is a specialized 5G network where businesses requiring 5G convergence services directly receive 5G frequencies and build and utilize them on their own land or buildings. Since December last year, two companies have been registered as I-eum 5G operators: Naver Cloud and LG CNS.
The National Radio Research Agency has issued radio certifications for a total of six products related to I-eum 5G as of this day, including indoor and outdoor base stations and wireless modules. For the 4.7 GHz band, the products are ▲Samsung Electronics base station equipment ▲Nokia Solutions and Networks Korea Co., Ltd. base station equipment ▲Woorinet wireless module equipment ▲LG Electronics modem equipment. For the 28 GHz band, there are two Samsung Electronics base station equipment products.
Radio certification is a system that proves that electronic products manufactured, sold, or imported comply with technical standards under the Radio Act before being sold. It is operated to prevent radio interference and to protect electronic devices and the human body from electromagnetic waves.
