Jeonbuk Province Selected for Contest to Establish Training Center for Employment of Disabled Persons
A 42,438㎡ Site in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, with an Investment of 29.1 Billion KRW
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 29th that it has been finally selected for the ‘Korea Disabled Employment Training Institute’ construction project, promoted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.
The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled selected the final site for the Disabled Employment Training Institute project, which is being promoted to provide specialized training for personnel related to disabled employment, improve the quality and specialization of disabled employment services, and offer training opportunities for institutions and employers related to disabled employment.
Six locations nationwide applied for this competition, and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled conducted on-site surveys and a review committee composed of private experts comprehensively considered the appropriateness of the construction plan, the proactiveness of project execution, and the feasibility of the project.
The Korea Disabled Employment Training Institute is planned to be constructed on a 42,438㎡ (12,837 pyeong) site in Seongdeok-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju City, with a minimum project cost of 29.1 billion KRW, and is expected to be completed in 2025.
The planned site for the training institute is composed entirely of flat farmland and rice paddies, offering a very large expansion space of about 60,400㎡ toward the east, west, and south directions, making it a very suitable area for promoting various projects related to disabled employment.
Additionally, Jeonju IC is located within 3 km, and a four-lane national road runs adjacent, providing excellent transportation accessibility. Cultural and sports facilities such as the World Cup Stadium and Hanok Village are nearby, enabling the linkage and promotion of various educational experience programs.
In particular, with the final confirmation of the establishment of the Disabled Employment Training Institute, it is expected to contribute to job creation, attracting external visitors, and expanding the economic development of local small business owners.
Meanwhile, according to the economic feasibility analysis of the 2019 ‘Jarim Welfare Foundation Basic Asset Utilization Basic Plan Establishment Research Service,’ the construction phase of the training institute is expected to generate a production inducement effect of 114.5 billion KRW and create 848 jobs, while the operation phase is expected to generate a production inducement effect of 6.74 billion KRW and create 179 jobs.
