"SKT 2.0 Era... AI Integration in 5 Major Business Sectors"
Emphasis on Employee Happiness... Expansion of Flexible Work System
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Telecom CEO (President) Yoo Young-sang, who is leading the company toward a new vision in the 'SKT 2.0 era,' held the second town hall meeting with all employees on the 29th. This large-scale town hall meeting involving all executives and staff was the first since the inaugural town hall meeting held right after SK Telecom's split launch in November last year.
The event, held from 2 p.m. for about an hour and a half, was divided into two main sessions. CEO Yoo Young-sang directly explained the company's management policies and plans for corporate culture improvement, followed by a Q&A session with employees attending both online and offline.
The main topic of the town hall meeting was the promotion plan for the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Great Transformation,' which redefines the business in the SKT 2.0 era. The discussion mainly focused on how to integrate the five major business sectors and AI technology, as presented by CEO Yoo at the 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022' held in Spain last February. The five core business sectors are ▲Wireless and Wired Communications ▲Media ▲Enterprise ▲AIVERSE ▲Connected Intelligence. CEO Yoo recently appeared on SK Telecom's YouTube channel 'Eulji People' and emphasized, "If the existing telecommunications business connected people to people (Distance), going forward, it will connect people to the sky (UAM), virtual worlds (Metaverse), and expand space and time (Dimension). We plan to discover convergence services combining AI and telecommunications and strengthen business centered on the five major sectors."

In fact, SK Telecom's recently opened hub offices called 'Sphere' in three locations?Ilsan and Bundang in Gyeonggi Province and Sindorim in Seoul?are part of these efforts. The company plans to strengthen the autonomous work system, where employees take responsibility and proactively decide their working methods.
