Wanju-gun Expands Residual Pesticide Testing Items for Agricultural Products
From 320 to 463 Types... Strengthening Insecticides, Disinfectants, and Herbicides
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 29th that it will significantly expand the number of residual pesticide test items from the previous 320 to 463 to strengthen the safety of agricultural products.
This is based on the revision of the "Standards and Specifications for Food" notification, according to the standards set by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service.
In addition to the existing 320 residual pesticide test components, 143 new components have been added, including 57 insecticides, 40 fungicides, 39 herbicides, 6 growth regulators, and 1 other.
Components with high domestic pesticide production, those detected in soil and irrigation water, and those necessary for managing export and certified agricultural products have been added.
Wanju County plans to complete preparations for smooth analysis of the 463 components by April and fully implement residual pesticide testing with the expanded test items starting in May.
Farmers must check the pesticide safety usage standards when using pesticides, as the provisional safety usage standards, which allowed temporary use for three years to resolve the shortage of registered pesticides in the field following the strengthened pesticide maximum residue limits (PLS) enforced from January 1, 2019, ended on December 31, 2021.
