The Gyeongnam Environment Love Gift Certificate is the first gift certificate issued nationwide by Gyeongsangnam-do to reduce the use of disposable plastics. It can be purchased as a Zero Pay mobile gift certificate with a 20% discount, up to a maximum of 100,000 KRW per month.
Consumers can use it at green stores designated by the province when they bring reusable containers such as tumblers instead of disposable containers.
The total issuance amount this year is 3.25 billion KRW, with 750 million KRW to be issued first in May, and a certain amount will be issued every month thereafter.
An official from the province said, “Not only can you receive a pre-discount benefit when purchasing the gift certificate, but you can also get additional discounts provided by the green stores themselves, enabling eco-friendly value consumption.”
The Gyeongnam-type green stores are stores that give discounts to customers who use reusable containers when ordering food or drinks for takeout and participate in establishing a lifestyle culture that reduces waste.
Gyeongsangnam-do has been steadily recruiting since December last year, and currently, 471 stores are registered.
To make it easy to check green stores where the gift certificates can be used, the province plans to implement a system that shows green stores on the provincial website and Z-MAP, and promote it through banners and text notification services.
