KCSC Removes and Blocks 19,000 Cases of Illegal Online Gambling Information in Q1
KCC Communication Deliberation Subcommittee Resolution for Correction Request
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Communications Standards Commission announced on the 29th that it has decided to request corrections for nearly 19,000 cases of illegal online gambling information in the first quarter of this year.
The Communications Review Subcommittee of the Korea Communications Standards Commission resolved to request corrections for a total of 18,922 cases of illegal online gambling information in the first quarter of this year, including ▲illegal winner voting tickets ▲lottery issuance ▲gambling business operations ▲foreign exchange rate prediction gambling. This includes deletion of the information, termination of use, and blocking of access. Compared to 2019 and 2020, this represents an increase of 75.4% and 70.6%, respectively.
The Commission has also strengthened its review linkage system with related organizations such as the National Police Agency, Kangwon Land, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.
Using illegal gambling sites is punishable under current law and poses secondary risks to users such as hacking and personal information leaks, requiring special caution.
