Changwon City to Lift Daycare Closures in May... 19,427 Children to Return to Normal Attendance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] From May 2nd, the closure order for daycare centers in Changwon-si, Gyeongnam will be lifted.
The daycare center closures began on November 30, 2020, to prevent COVID-19 infections, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare lifted the nationwide daycare closure order last December.
Changwon-si had maintained the closure due to the spread of the Omicron variant and the rapid increase in confirmed cases, but announced that the order will be lifted starting May this year.
The number of daycare centers reopening is 713, and the number of children returning to attendance is 19,427.
According to the city, after the closure order in 2020, the usage rate of emergency childcare exceeded 50%, but steadily increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, recently surpassing 90%.
Daycare centers preparing to reopen plan to strengthen basic quarantine rules according to COVID-19 response guidelines, and have conducted self-disinfection of school buses and facilities.
For parents who are concerned about infection and choose home care instead of attendance after reopening, parental childcare fees will be supported without any self-payment.
