According to the analysis of the April 2021 university information disclosure announced by the Ministry of Education and the University Education Council on the 29th, 83.4% of students received a grade of B or higher last year, a decrease of 4.1 percentage points compared to the previous year. Among enrolled students, 47.9% received an A grade, and 35.4% received a B grade.
Compared to before the outbreak of COVID-19, the percentage of students receiving B grades or higher increased by 11.7 percentage points. In 2019, only 71.7% of students received B grades or higher, but with the significant expansion of remote classes, this surged to 87.5% in 2020.
The proportion of graduates who scored 80 points or higher based on converted scores was 93.6%, an increase of 1.8 percentage points from the previous year (91.8%). The converted score refers to the value obtained by converting the average graduation GPA into a percentage score.
An official from the Ministry of Education explained, "The high proportion of B grades or higher is due to the expansion of absolute evaluation caused by restrictions on face-to-face classes, and as academic management becomes stricter, this proportion is expected to continue decreasing. The trend of high converted scores among graduates will have an impact for the time being."
For the 2022 academic year, tuition fees were frozen at 188 out of 194 universities (96.9%). Eight schools reduced their tuition fees.
