On the 27th, DL E&C announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Coway for joint research and development of a household water treatment system. DL E&C, which has been planning to develop a household water treatment system aiming to supply the healthiest water in Korea, has joined hands with Coway.
The MOU signing ceremony was held on the 26th at DL E&C headquarters located in D Tower Donuimun, Jongno-gu, Seoul, attended by Youngrak Choi, Executive in charge of Housing Technology Development at DL E&C, and Junhyun Park, Head of Corporate Business at Coway.
Recently, consumer distrust and anxiety about tap water have increased due to issues such as tap water insect larvae and red tap water incidents, leading to a surge in sales of filters for showerheads and faucets. To address this, DL E&C is developing technology to supply healthy water through a two-stage water treatment system that extends from central water treatment within apartment complexes to household water treatment.
The household water treatment system being developed jointly by DL E&C and Coway is equipped with filters specialized in removing contaminants, fine suspended particles inside pipes, rust, and larvae. The system aims to supply cleaner and safer domestic water by installing Coway’s POE (Point of Entry) filters in the common areas of apartment complexes.
In particular, the filters installed in the household water treatment system do not require replacement for 12 months based on a four-person household. Additionally, management services such as filter cleaning and replacement can be provided through contactless outdoor service, which is expected to result in high customer satisfaction.
DL E&C plans to complete the development of the household water treatment system as early as this year and is considering applying it to newly occupied households in the future. Alongside this, DL E&C is also promoting development in collaboration with specialized commercial water treatment system companies to improve filtering performance and maintenance specialization of the central water treatment system, which is the preceding stage of the household water treatment system.
