Earnings Season Optimism... KOSPI Top Market Cap Stocks Rise Together
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The domestic stock market started higher on the 26th, buoyed by a rebound centered on U.S. tech stocks and expectations for earnings announcements.
At 9:23 a.m. on the 26th, the KOSPI was at 2,671.98, up 0.56% (14.85 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 2,674.00, up 0.63% (16.87 points) from the previous trading day.
Looking at investor trends, individual investors alone bought stocks worth 14.1 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 8.1 billion KRW and 1.2 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, all of the top 10 KOSPI stocks except LG Energy Solution (-2.77%) were on the rise. Samsung Electronics (0.30%), SK Hynix (0.93%), Samsung Biologics (1.13%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (0.50%), NAVER (0.17%), Hyundai Motor (3.85%), Kakao (0.67%), Samsung SDI (1.38%), LG Chem (0.72%), and Kia (4.90%) all showed gains.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was at 909.40, up 1.06% (9.56 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ index opened at 906.59, up 0.75% (6.75 points). Regarding investor trends, individual investors again bought stocks worth 47.9 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 39.5 billion KRW and 2.9 billion KRW, respectively.
The top market capitalization stocks in the KOSDAQ market also showed gains across the board. EcoPro BM (1.21%), Celltrion Healthcare (3.12%), L&F (0.53%), Pearl Abyss (6.22%), Kakao Games (0.99%), Celltrion Pharm (3.13%), HLB (2.05%), Chunbo (2.34%), CJ ENM (0.48%), and Wemade (1.00%) all rose.

Seo Sang-young, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, said, "The rebound buying centered on major U.S. tech stocks and the People's Bank of China's active financial market stabilization policy, including a 100 basis point cut in the reserve requirement ratio to control the depreciation of the yuan, are positive for our stock market," adding, "Our market started slightly higher and is expected to show resilience due to optimism about the earnings season."
