The Jeju Western Police Station announced on the 22nd that two individuals, including Mr. A, surrendered to the police on the 21st and are being investigated on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.
Earlier, at around 8:50 a.m. on the 19th, a poodle was found buried in an open field near Dogeuncheon in Naedo-dong, Jeju City, with all parts except its nose buried underground, prompting a police investigation.
The police stated that the relationship between the two suspects and their motive for the crime have not been clearly determined yet, making it difficult to confirm details.
A police official said, "We are conducting additional investigations by cross-checking the information gathered through the investigation and the suspects' statements."
Meanwhile, the poodle, which was buried underground and rescued by a nearby resident passing by, is currently receiving treatment at the Animal Protection Center under the Jeju Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory.
