Jeonju City Launches Smart Enforcement System for Disabled Parking Zones
15 Disabled Parking Spaces Installed at 6 Locations in Deokjin-gu
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Jeonju City announced on the 22nd that it will fully operate a smart enforcement system installed in 15 disabled parking spaces at six public institutions in Deokjin-gu, including the district office, Deokjin Health Center, Geonji Library, and Dong Community Centers (Jinbuk-dong, Inhu 2-dong, Songcheon 1-dong).
The smart management service for disabled parking spaces is an unmanned enforcement system where an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor recognizes the license plate of vehicles entering the disabled parking area, automatically checks in real time, and if the vehicle is not registered as disabled, it activates a warning light and provides voice guidance to educate the driver.
Upon first entry, the first warning is issued, followed by a second warning after one minute. If the vehicle does not move after the second warning and five minutes pass, a fine is automatically imposed.
In this regard, illegal parking in disabled parking spaces results in a fine of 100,000 KRW, and if objects are piled up in the disabled parking space or if more than two parking spaces are obstructed, a fine of 500,000 KRW is imposed for parking obstruction.
Additionally, if a parking permit is forged and used improperly, a fine of 2,000,000 KRW must be paid.
Jeonju City expects that this smart enforcement system will prevent illegal parking in advance, improve parking convenience for disabled people, and enhance the efficiency of prompt work processing through a one-stop system that handles everything from vehicle identification to fine imposition at once.
