Estonia and Latvia Parliaments Define Russia's Actions as 'Genocide'
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 21st (local time), the parliaments of Estonia and Latvia adopted a statement classifying the massacre of Ukrainian civilians by Russian troops as genocide, CNN reported.
The Estonian parliament stated in the declaration that "Russian troops have committed systematic large-scale war crimes against Ukraine."
The parliament cited Bucha, Irpin, and Mariupol as examples, pointing out that "Russia committed mass killings targeting civilians," and "engaged in murder, abduction, deportation, detention, torture, rape, and mutilation of corpses."
The Latvian parliament also unanimously adopted a statement officially declaring the atrocities committed by Russian troops in Ukraine as genocide.

The parliament said, "Russian troops committed murder, torture, and sexual violence against Ukrainian civilians, including women and children," adding, "As members of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Union (EU), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and as defenders of democratic values, we cannot accept Russia's actions."
