Gwangju Education Superintendent Candidate Lee Jeong-seon: "We Must Address the Climate Crisis Through Environmental Education"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Lee Jeong-seon, a preliminary candidate for Gwangju Superintendent of Education, asked for participation in the 10-minute 'Lights Out Event' on the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day on the 22nd.
Candidate Lee said, "Our students are the first generation to recognize the seriousness of the climate crisis and the last generation capable of solving this problem," adding, "With an urgent determination to address the climate crisis, we will strengthen practical ecological environmental education."
He then promised ▲establishing eco-friendly ecological education infrastructure through the creation of green spaces within schools, ▲implementing customized ecological environmental education by school level and operating one ecological environmental club per school, ▲expanding the operation of the Climate Crisis Emergency Action Task Force, ▲running youth climate leader training programs in cooperation with environmental organizations, ▲hosting the Gwangju International Climate Environment Student Forum, ▲operating ecological education experience programs at the Gwangju Student Education Center (Gwangju Student Marine Training Center), and ▲strengthening ESD (Education for Sustainable Development).
