At least 4 suspected accomplices of Lee Eunhae and Jo Hyunsoo in the 'Valley Murder'... Prosecution focuses on data analysis
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] It has been revealed that at least four suspected accomplices helped Lee Eun-hae (31) and Jo Hyun-soo (30), who were arrested for the 'valley murder' case, during their four-month period on the run.
According to the legal community on the 20th, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office has placed four acquaintances of Lee and Jo, who were arrested the previous day on charges of murder, attempted murder, and attempted violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud, under investigation as suspected accomplices. Among them, two are a man and a woman who stayed together for one night and two days earlier this month at a lodging facility on the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province after the public wanted notice was issued by the prosecution. The woman among them was confirmed to be a friend of Lee. The other two are the credit card holders used by Lee to make payments at the lodging facility and the lessee of the officetel used as a hideout.
However, the prosecution is said to decide after investigation whether to apply charges of harboring or aiding a criminal to them. There is a possibility that they were unaware that Lee and Jo were suspects in this case if they lent their credit cards or signed the lease on their behalf before the public wanted notice was issued.
Recently, the prosecution reportedly requested the management office of the officetel in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, which was used as a hideout, to submit the lease contract and internal closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage. The prosecution plans to analyze these materials, which were submitted voluntarily, and then summon the four suspected accomplices for questioning one by one. If additional individuals who provided burner phones found at the hideout are identified during the investigation of the accomplices, the number of suspected accomplices may increase.
On the same day, the prosecution focused on analyzing materials without summoning Lee and Jo for questioning at the Incheon Detention Center.
Lee, who was arrested the previous day, is accused of killing her husband, Mr. A, on June 30, 2019, at 8:24 p.m. in Yongsogye Valley, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, together with her lover Jo. The prosecution believes that they forced Mr. A, who could not swim at all, to jump from a 4-meter-high rock into a valley pool 3 meters deep and then failed to rescue him, resulting in his death. They also consider the crime was motivated by the 800 million won life insurance policy taken out in Mr. A's name. The prosecution applied charges of 'murder by omission' to them. They are also accused of attempting to kill Mr. A in February and May of the same year by feeding him food mixed with pufferfish poison and by making him fall into fishing pond water.
